Mimosa Exhibition, Elora Centre for the Arts, Mar 21st - May 12th, 2024

I am so honoured to be a part of this group exhibition Mimosa, celebrating women and their positivity and strength through art.

I have four paintings in the exhibition: Jina (Mahsa) Amini: Women, Life, Freedom; Dr. Maya Angelou: ‘Still I Rise; Nina Simone: The High Priestess of Soul; and Autumn Peltier: The Water Warrior.

All of these incredible women that are the subjects of my artwork exemplify the theme Mimosa because of their female leadership, courage in the face of adversity, commitement to freedom and equality, and unwavering resilience.

Carol Folino: The Art and the Story

“The Art and the Story” is a video produced by Rachel Nguyen, a graphic design student from the University of Waterloo. It was filmed at my exhibition, “Portraits of Courage” at the Central Gallery at the Kitchener Public Library in November 2022.

PORTRAITS OF COURAGE, Solo Exhibition, The Gallery at Central, Kitchener Public Library, Kitchener, ON

I am honoured to have my exhibition "Portraits of Courage” on at The Gallery at Central, located in the lower level at the Kitchener Public Library on 85 Queen St. N., Kitchener. The exhibition runs until Dec 28th, 2022.

This is the second gallery this exibition has been featured at and it reflects self-portraits and stories of individuals from a variety of marginalized communities and backgrounds that have defied the odds in the midst of unfathomable experiences.

By moving beyond my own journey to capture these powerful stories of resilience and bravery, I hope to inspire change.

My recent artwork acts as a historical record of some of the most impactful stories that have touched our local community and global village.  What started out as a way to process my own anxiety has turned into a collection of courageous portraits that offer hope, connection, and illustrate the deep well of emotions that is part of the human experience.
